Hello Dear Pet Parents!
Greetings from the stunning Austrian Alps!
Nestled in the fresh, crisp mountain air and surrounded by breathtaking views, I’ve been reminded that even here, in this pristine setting, the ‘new pet pandemic’—diabetes—has found its way into the lives of many beloved furkids.
During my time catching up with friends and their furry companions, the topic quickly shifted to: How can we balance blood sugar levels in pets without relying solely on injections or oral medication?
The answer may surprise you—it’s all about addressing the root causes and supporting the body naturally.

Here’s what I’ve been chatting about in the Tyrolean mountains and what I’d love to share with you today:
1. Fix the Root of the Problem
Start by addressing the foods that trigger and worsen blood glucose spikes. The key to improving your pet’s quality of life lies in making those changes at the foundational level.
2. Tap into Nature’s Pharmacy
Just like with humans, rather than just masking symptoms, use the power of nature to help your pet’s body regulate blood sugar more effectively. Plants can support this process on amazing levels.
3. Boost Healing with Herbs & Spices
Don’t just feed your pet the basics—support their body’s healing process with natural ingredients like herbs and spices that stimulate better blood sugar control.

Cornelia & Emily: A Practical Example
Let me give you a practical example of how to get started with these natural alternatives.
Here’s the plan I put together for Cornelia and her sweet dog, Emily:
- Switch to Fresh, Balanced Meals: Instead of relying on grain-based, sugar-loaded commercial pet food, I advised Cornelia to start feeding Emily meals based on keto principles. This helps to take the pressure off her insulin production and regulates her blood sugar more effectively. Additionally, Cornelia is now dividing Emily’s food into three portions per day, feeding her at fixed times for consistency.
- Introduce Bitter Vegetables: Cornelia will add bitter vegetables like arugula (rocket) and radishes to Emily’s meals. These plants have been shown to help reduce blood sugar spikes. Emily loves these veggies, and you might be surprised how well your own dog takes to them, too!
- Herbs & Spices for Support: Cornelia starts rotating some powerful spices in Emily’s meals, including fenugreek, ginger, turmeric, garlic, and cinnamon. These spices are natural powerhouses that help improve insulin function and reduce inflammation.

Acupuncture: A Bonus Treatment
Beyond diet, acupuncture can be an incredibly effective way to boost insulin production and heal inflammation in the pancreas. It’s another tool in our natural toolbox!

Let’s Work with Nature, Not Against It
With the right diet, herbs, and healing methods, we can help our pets thrive, even in the face of diabetes. Let’s support our furry friends in healing, and improve their life quality—naturally!
That’s all for today, sending “warm wishes” 😊 from Lermoos in the beautiful Alps.
I’ll be heading to Kuala Lumpur and Penang soon, so I’ll catch up with you again in just a few days!
