Here are my Proactive Tips for A Better Life of Diabetic or
Pre-Diabetic Pets through Feeding Right

While there’s no “guaranteed” cure for diseases nor a 100% sure way to prevent illness, being proactive is always the best choice. When it comes to feeding diabetic pets, a fresh, carb-free diet can help their insulin-producing cells function better.

4 Key Tips for Feeding Diabetic Pets:

  1. Cut the Carbs and Low-Nutrient Fillers
    – For Cats: A zero-carb diet works best.
    – For Dogs: Carbs are tolerable, but skipping them is ideal to ease the work of their insulin cells.
  2. Add Healing Herbs & Spices
    – For Cats: Try a little organic cinnamon to see if they like it.
    – For Dogs: Ginger, fenugreek, and cinnamon are great options.
  3. Boost Fiber Intake
    – For Cats: Add insoluble fiber like psyllium husk.
    – For Dogs: They can handle more fibrous veggies. Fiber supports gut health and helps manage blood sugar levels.
  4. Feed Smaller, Regular Meals
    – Split meals into 4 portions a day to make digestion easier for both, cats and dogs. This reduces the strain on their pancreas compared to larger, carb-heavy meals.
    – Pets on a natural ‘keto based’ diet have a chance to live well again without the synthetic insulin drug “crutch”

Best Ingredients for Diabetic Pets:

Keto-like Diet: Focus on fresh meats and low-carb veggies like leafy greens, asparagus, turnip, broccoli, a bit of pumpkin, and life nurturing alfalfa sprouts.

Spices for Blood Sugar Control: Add fresh ginger and organic cinnamon to meals for gut and cardiovascular health.

Fiber: Include ¼-½ teaspoon of psyllium husk, paired with 2- 4 teaspoons of extra water to avoid constipation. This is an important addition to your (diabetic) pet’s fresh meal!

Protein: Use high-quality fresh proteins like anchovies, mackerel, sardines, eggs, beef (especially pancreas), lean pork, and bone broth.

Calcium: Add non-vitamin D containing calcium such as ground egg shell powder (2g for 1 kg meat).

Healthy Fats & Micronutrients: Include 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, ghee, and unsalted grass-fed butter, along with a pinch of non-iodized salt, for better vitamin absorption and cell health for every half kg of fresh food.

Herbs: Chinese and western medical herbal combinations can be used to regulate blood sugar spikes for pets on a carnivore – healthy diet.
